About The Artist
Having spent my professional life caring for the visual health of my patients as an ophthalmologist and retina specialist, I have often wondered about what those of us with good vision ignore or don’t see. This curiosity naturally attracted me to photographing things that are often not visually obvious. My collections are all in Black and White, and range from intimate, storytelling images of people found in unique circumstances, to framing our natural world in fresh compositions. My color collection were originally B&W prints that have a color burn overlay. I enjoy the various printing processes I employ and take much care in the transfer of image from camera to paper.
Over the past twenty years my mentors have been stellar figures in the photographic world, including John Paul Caponigro, Elizabeth Opalenik, Susan Burnstine, Keith Carter, Joyce Tennyson, Dan Burkholder, Jon Cone of Cone editions and Stan Klimek for Gum bichromate over platinum printing.
I have attended multiple Santa Fe Photographic Workshops as well as a class for Platinum/Palladium printing at Kent State University.
